Wicklow RFC are delighted to announce their exciting new coaching line up for the 2020/21 season. Head Coach will be Dan Van Zyl, Forwards coach and player coach will be Paddy Thornton and skills coach will be former club captain Wes Wojnar. Women’s Senior Team Coaching Staff
Wicklow RFC’s senior Women’s team have been promoted to the Energia All Ireland League for the upcoming season when they will be competing amongst the top ten teams in the country for the first time in the club’s history. To help our players to prepare for this challenges the club have put together a very experienced coaching group to give the women the best possible backup towards preparing for life in the top flight. Wicklow RFC Vikings Vs Rathrum RFC
On a perfectly still night, with the sun setting over Ashtown Lane, the Wicklow over 35’s played their first 15’s game of the year against an athletic Rathdrum outfit. Things started badly for the Vikings, giving away a penalty right from the starting whistle which didn’t help settle the nerves, however, the defence stayed strong and the unflappable Niall Geoghegan cleared the Wicklow line with the first of many relieving kicks. It was a short-lived territorial gain however, the visitors pressed back and a momentary lapse in concentration saw Rathdrum slip in for a try from a quickly taken penalty….

Wicklow RFC Women Vs Railway Union, Metro Cup Final
The 2019 Metro Cup Final due to take place before Christmas was rained off. The game has been rescheduled to take place on Friday January 31st under floodlights at Wicklow RFC. Kick off is at 8pm. Railway and Wicklow have had two cracking matches this season and this has all the makings of a classic. There will be live music in the bar afterwards. If last year is anything to go by this will be a fantastic night. Don’t miss it!!

Wicklow RFC Ten Aside Tournament. On Saturday 24 August 2019, the inaugural “WRFC 10s Rugby Festival” took place at Wicklow Rugby Football Club, Ashtown Lane, Wicklow, County Wicklow. The pitches were pristine, the facilities shining and the smell of food and prospect of cold refreshments did nothing less than to heighten the anticipation of what, would prove to be an absolutely fantastic day…night. Joe Schmidt visits Wicklow RFC
250 guests attended a lunch and questions and answers session with Irish rugby coach Joe Schmidt. In five years under his leadership, Ireland have won three Six Nations Championships, and recorded their first-ever wins over his home nation of New Zealand. He retires as Ireland coach after the 2019 Rugby World Cup. His visit to Wicklow Rugby Club generated plenty of interest.
